  • CUB RUN PUMP STATION
    Fairfax County, Virginia
For this project RDA teamed with CH2M Hill in providing the Upper Occoquan Sewage Authority (UOSA) the survey and design efforts necessary to finalize the construction plans for this pump station. CH2M Hill designed the actual pump station and the accompanying 2,800 feet of force main. RDA provided all of the survey services including boundary and topography surveys along the force main alignment and for the pump station site. In addition, RDA provided the pump station site plan including a special exception plat for a public use within a R-1 zone. RDA also provided erosion and sediment control plans, landscape plans, sight distance profiles, stormwater detention waiver and floodplain study waiver requests, and easement plats. The plans were reviewed and approved by Fairfax County. This project is just one of many projects surveyed and designed by RDA for UOSA. Said projects include the Little Rocky Run Pump Station, a project very similar in scope to Cub Run Pump Station, as well as various surveys and designs throughout the UOSA plant itself.
  • PRINCE WILLIAM PARKWAY WATER LINE
    Prince William County, Virginia
This project involved the survey and design by RDA of approximately 3,000 feet of 24” waterline. Through careful planning and coordination with the Prince William County Service Authority (PWCSA), a best alignment was chosen adjacent to the Parkway, but proved to be impractical due to the many existing utility conflicts that were revealed by the underground utility designator. Through subsequent meetings and site visits, an alternate route through vacant properties not directly adjacent to the Parkway was chosen. Boundary and topography surveys were completed and construction plan and profile drawings were generated and approved by the PWCSA. Plats were provided for those portions of the waterline located outside existing road right-of-way.
  • UTILITY ASBUILTS
Since 2001, the Prince William County Service Authority has had RDA provide water and sewer asbuilts of recently constructed subdivision sections, commercial and industrial sites, and various other constructed sites. These asbuilts are placed on the County State Grid Coordinate system and provide a means to the Service Authority of obtaining quality asbuilts without depending on a developer’s schedule. The asbuilts are provided in hardcopy form (examples to follow) to the Maintenance Division for future field use as well as in digital form (AutoCad) to the Mapping Division to be incorporated into the Service Authority’s intricate mapping system. Horizontal and vertical values are placed on all manhole tops with horizontal values placed on all cleanouts. In addition, invert elevations are provided for each manhole. As for the waterline asbuilt, horizontal and vertical values are placed on all valves with horizontal values placed on all water meters and fire hydrants. Fees associated with the asbuilt of the water and sewer systems are collected by the Service Authority from the developers based on a standard formula computed from time and cost calculations provided by RDA. With most newly constructed sites being GPS accessible, RDA now routinely collects asbuilt data with our RTK receivers, providing both a cost and time savings to the Service Authority.
